This was a Russell Cambrian ‘reconstituted slate’ roof with six Velux windows installed. The lower, shallower pitch was a add on extension to the existing building. We first had to break into the existing building at eave level to install the timber joists for the new roof, which also meant re-aligning the existing valley into a dog leg shape to accommodate the new pitch going through the rear outrigger roof. We then installed four new Velux windows to the existing pitch and two to the new extension before felting, battening and tiling the new roof and installing the lead apron at the intersections of the new and existing roof pitches.
